    Hi there!

Thanks to this forum I have managed to have a fully working Win7 Ultimate x64 installation on my Vaio Z-21WN (European model, specs in sig). Everything works well, including the WWAN module. I have all buttions working, in both speed and stamina modes, the lappie just flies.

However, poking around the European Vaio link site I've found a couple of news: first an updated Graphics driver here, but also poking around (in the Originally Installed section) saw an updated Alps Pointing device driver. The version I have installed is 7.2.* while the one for the VGN-Z51XG is a 7.5.*. Downloading the driver I could see that it supports two finger browsing, pinching to zoom and a couple of other features.

Nifty I thought; however I cannot install the driver in my computer - it says "Your operating system is not supported".

Has anyone else tried this? I thought that the pointing HW in all Vaio Zs was the same? Surely Alps cannot build a driver that only works in Win 7 x64 Professional but not Ultimate?
Can someone with a Win7 x64 Professional try to install the driver and then report back with both succcess or failure?

It is not supporting 64-bit OS.

    Dectiras,

What are you basing your reply upon? Have you also tested and managed to install it on x32bit Win7?
The driver above is originally installed on a VaioZ running Win7 x64 Professional edition, I would be highly surprised if it didn't support 64-bit OS.

Can someone with the R4* BIOS test this, it might be a BIOS issue. Would be nice to multitouch on our VAIOs

    From the driver info file:
This driver doesn't work on 64bit OS. The 7.202.505.108 driver (s. NHT's post) supports already two finger browsing, etc.

Ok, thanks, I'll double check the info file. Funny that Sony offers this as an original download to a Win7 x64 Professional laptop.

Btw, the driver that NHT links to is already installed and working well, just doesn't have two finger scrolling, that's all. Have you guys gotten it to work, if so, how?
