Yesterday I did some maintenance stuff (did the Vaio Care thing, installed two windows updates, etc) and now all of the extra buttons such as Vaio, Assist, brightness up, mute, stamina/speed/auto aren't working. Help?

I also uninstalled Vaio Survey, but I doubt that's it.

Did a system restore, took two minutes, works fine now.

Still, no idea why it happened.

Can you take a screenshot of all your running processes? I just got my Z so I'm not sure which process(es) handles the function keys (and hybrid graphics slider/three special keys) but I can take a look at my list of processes to compare, if that helps.

The program was "Vaio Event something something", and the nearest restore point was when I was running through the maintenance because it was uninstalled. I still don't know why; Sony had me update my Bios (I should check if it sped it up), install two Windows updates and run something to clean my registry and something else. None of that screams "Uninstall vital driver" to me.

Vaio Event service is required and runs the function keys. reinstall it.
