I have had an interesting week with my DV6, I like it more than I thought I would, but I have not fallen completely in love. My hangups still are the massive size of the 15.6" screen, and the horrible keyboard. I love the Sony Vaio Z for the screen size and higher resolution is a huge bonus as I do a bit of graphic design (and hope to do more).
That being said, my DV6 has excelled with easily getting 5-6 hours on battery life. What would it be like on the Vaio Z i5 with SSD? I doubt I can reconcile the extra $600 I would have to spend on the Sony, not to mention I would probably want to up the memory from the stock 4gb. Though the lower processor does not worry me much.

On extended battery, I get 6-7 hours. With the regular battery (which I admittedly don't use much), I get 3.5-4.

With a customized power plan (which lowers the screen refresh rate, changes the color scheme, and turns off the optical drive) and screen brightness at around 30% (which is definitely workable), I frequently get over 5 hours of battery life on the regular battery. Through the battery care functions, I also only charge the battery up to 80%. I have been very satisfied with the battery life. Keep in mind though that this is only doing very low-intensity stuff like MS Word, Excel, web browsing, etc.

In stamina mode and only one drop of screen brightness, I can frequently surf 5-6 hours, including flash. I don't need more capacity, so I have never try the others settings.
My config (Z13, i5 580, 256 SSD and 4Gb RAM, HC battery 80% full)
Vaio Z i5 + SSD Battery life?
