    Vaio Z/i5 weird battery problem

    Today, out of nowhere, im experiencing the following symptom:

    Battery is shown as "charging, plugged in" but remaining at 74% constantly. Battery Care is disable. When I unplug the machine, it goes dead immediately, as if there wasn't a battery in at all (it's fully inserted though).

    Upon reboot, the situation is the same as stated above.

    Any ideas what might be wrong?

    Turn it off, pull the power cord off, pull the battery out and hold the power button down for about 30 seconds. If that doesn't work try pulling the power cord off, taking the battery out, and pulling the CMOS battery out for about a minute.

    There's a CMOS battery I can pull out? After opening up the whole machine, presumably?

    Perhaps there is some dirt/dust on the battery's contacts.
