Hey guys, i'm planning on buying the new Z when its available and i decided if i'm spending that much money on a laptop i'm going to need a heavy duty case to carry it in. So the case i was thinking about carrying it in is a Pelican 1090cc or the Pelican 1080CC if the Z could fit. I just had a few questions, will the Z and the adapter fit or just the Z? and also will this case because it is padded, add to much pressure on the screen causing it to leave permanent marks for the keyboard or palm rest? Also if anyone has any other suggestions for a compact heavy duty case that would be help full.

    Website:
    http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1090CC With the computer lining
    http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1080CC With the computer lining
http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1090 Without the computer lining, has the pick and pluck foam (i choose what squares to take out to fit my laptop)

    Round up:
    1. Will the Z fit in the 1080cc?
    2. Will the Z fit in the 1090CC?
    3. Will the adapter fit in either or both?
    4. Computer lining or Pick and pluck foam?
    5. Will the pressure from the padding cause enough force for the screen to be permanently marked?

    Thanks guys for the help

This is the case I trust my Z820 to be carried in. It is a truly heavy duty case without weighing a heavy amount. It looks great and holds everything you will need and is well organized. I linked 2 references but obviously would get from Amazon. Or you can get ebags to price match Amazon, which is what I did.

Note though that there is a dedicated thread for this discussion here :

yikes, seems like a waste to have such a thin and light laptop and have it weigh you down because of a case that weighs more than the laptop itself! but i totally understand if you just want to protect your baby!

i use a Tumi leather messenger bag that has zero padding other than the soft leather itself, i've never damaged my laptop but i am anal about making sure i'm gentle with it. If i'm traveling I use the sony padded slipcase for the laptop and it'll still fit in my Tumi messenger bag.

concerning the pressure marks, it would seem judging from the pics sony has provided of the new Z, that they modified the LCD housing to prevent that from happening anymore but we won't really know how effective it is until we finally get them in our hands....

I have this case too. I also have the Sony leather wrap on my Z, and it fits within the Brenthaven perfectly. I've travelled everywhere with this case for over four years, just recently changing my Sony S2XP for a Sony Z51WG, and this single case has served me well for those four years. Originally bought from CompUSA, and almost completely unknown outside of the USA, it was one of my best ever purchases as a Brit abroad.
