I have a Sony Vaio Z from I purchased 2 years or so ago
Model vgn-z26gn
P8600 core 2 duo cpu 2.4GHZ
windows 7
running in Performance mode ~ any other mode the PC lags cause the fan isn't running fast

even with performance mode and only google chrome browser 6 tabs open + itunes + filezilla Ftp, the laptop is running really hot and just generally its quite slow compared to when i first got it
is there something wrong here and are those temperatures too high???
is there any maintenance i can do like maybe clear out the dust in the fan outlet somehow??
-
nothing wrong with 60c, if ur running 90c ur gonna have problems.
-
i dont understand this lag then...
should i reinstall windows? -
-
Yea i have that installed, i actually have it in performance mode I think even balanced mode lags sometimes.
just generally though it seems the performance has drastically declined since when I first bought it.
So either the cpu has just died off a bit or the vents need cleaning or its windows -

What is the status of the HDD LED? Run Sysinternals Process Explorer and see if anything is using excessive resources. Prime suspect is the VAIO Folder Content Analyser.
Vaio Z overheating.. Why?
