Does anyone have any data or experience as it relates to comparing these 2 devices?

    With respect to data:
Use your browser, check the Sony & Lenovo website.

    In terms of experience:
I suspect they are similar machines - high end business - in that case I think few people will have both machines...

It's ultimate battery life versus ultimate power. What do you need?

    Do like the Thinkpad design?

I own neither but I was browsing the store today and saw both machines. The display on the Sony is so much better. The IBM has a more rigid lid and better keyboard but the Sony wins on looks, cpu power, and premium display, in my opinion.

EDIT: I was also very impressed by the TT. Very nice package with an excellent screen as well.

I'm a Thinkpad fanboy, but I don't see anything in favor of the x301 except in weight, size, keyboard, maybe the roll cage technology, and maybe lower case temperature.

For a little more weight and a slightly bigger package You get much more in performance (CPU, hybrid video card,) optional SSD, one of the best LED (if not the best) screens available, and better battery performance.

The prices should be comparable also.

I tried to justify getting the x200s, but ended up getting a Z.

It was a legitimate question. Lenovo's and ThinkPads were, until recently, never seen in retail stores.

If you are going to try and be cute, please at least use full words and sentences to do so. It'll help your credibility and peoples willingness to listen to you much more.

Lol at what Nixon said ^ :p
I'd say, for build quality at least, they are on a par, with the Lenovo creeping ahead a bit. But for style and battery, there is no question about the Sony.
