I just recently purchased a used VGN-Z520n from ebay.
I noticed there is a small dent on the carbon fiber casing on the Keyboard.
I want to replace that part, but I actually like the black color on the new Z series. Is there a way I can purchase just the Black keyboard housing and replace it on my vaio?

i think it's actually aluminum..though i want to know as well if there's any way of switching it to black.

aluminum thats what i meant. i think there list it as carbon fiber on the sonystyle site or something.

Yes i wonder this also, in the pictures the black keyboard looks so much better then the grey keyboard which is the one i have. I'm going to contact sony and ask, if i can change it.

I've just gotten of the phone to sony vaio europe and they seem to think you can only get the keyboard in the grey aluminium colour, i'm confused as the new models Z's clearly look black, he seems to think there is only grey for the vaio z.
Anyone on here have a black keyboard vaio z? Its the brand new latest models. I have to have it in black

I just saw the new vaio z today in a retail store that features the black aluminum keyboard case. And frankly, I don't think it looks that nice after I've taken a closer look. The black color actually doesn't match the black frame used for the screen; it doesn't even match the lid. Also the bottom of the notebook became a greyish color as well as the dvd rom. This results in a three color tone on the same notebook.

Thanks for the info mate, i will leave it then. Its a shame sony do not offer such colour schemes though, give people more options afteral the Z range is pretty customisable you'd thinkg they'd also offer a coloured keyboard or backlit keys by now.
