Is it worth getting the Bluray on the Z? Already the price increased by about $200 for the 256 mb nvidia in the 590cto vs the 540cto. But is the slow speed blu-ray drive for $500 worth it? I wish they offered a bluray read drive option as well T.T. Does anyone know if it will be available in the future?

    Thank you.

As it stands right now, there is no Blu-ray read only option but I expect that it will happen in the next couple of refreshes.

For simply using the read-only function of the current drive, I'd say IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Save your money. If you do plan on burning Blu-ray discs (while on the go) then it is worth it. The only exception to this advice is if your company is paying for it. ;-)

im just interested in the Blu-Ray burner but 500 bucks is hard to swallow I might as well just buy a ps3 to watch bluray movies. But the burner is inticing.

I think you could install a blue-ray disk yourself when the price drops in the future. I asked this matter to P1 and they say it's very easy to install the BD drive yourself, just one screw, that's what they say.

oh okay, so its not really worth it huh. I guess it goes back to when dvd players/burners came out and they were such low speeds.
