Anybody try running the Samsung SSD Magician app on a Samsung-equipped Z1/2? It may be locked for specific aftermarket drives, but I haven't tested.

I imagine that if it does work, some of the features wouldn't work with the SSD sammiches in RAID config.

    High level features:
    • Benchmarks - Yea, more numbers
    • Performance Optimization - I'm guessing it consolidates free space
    • OS Optimization - Kills the following: Superfetch, Defrag, ReadyBoost and Indexing <- I disagree on this one. It also has a power plan
    • Secure Erase - Looks like a proper SECURE_ERASE process which should restore the drives to factory performance
    • Over Provisioning - I've been saying this is important for a while now. Looks like Sammy recommends 7-10% slack space. This gives the controller free blocks to do garbage collection. It's a pretty big price to pay on smaller SSD configs, but I've had 15% free my Z1/Z2 since day one.

I won't be able to eval this for a while, so have at it if you are so inclined.

I couldn't find a 3.0 installer, but the 2.0 bits appear to update themselves. Download linky

The guide says it only works on the Samsung 470 series. It may not work for the Z1 even without the raid.

You can try the software, but as far as I know, it only works with commercial Samsung SSD (it checks for the firmware without the OEM extension at the end). Theoretically, if you can flash the commercial firmware in, it may work.
