I have followed most threads about the Z11 before and since its release, and am absolutely loving mine.
The only trouble I am having is figuring out which SD cards are compatible with the inbuilt reader. I brought a class2 32gb SDHC which is not recognized. I am aware that such high capacity cards often are not, but had hoped in such a new system it would not be an issue.
Can anyone confirm the max sizes for both card slots, so that I don't go an buy a 16gb only for that not to register.

I think its not the hardware problem. I know recently i update my window there is an update saying to support 32GB memory card. Could you try update your window to see is this fixed?

Windows is up to date, all important and optional updates installed. Unless i'm missing a manual update from microsoft?

Did u update this (KB976422) by window update?
Definition: Install this update to support Secure Digital(SD) cards that are larger than 32 GB.
check the link The capacity of a Secure Digital (SD) card that is larger than 32 GB is reported incorrectly in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2 here. -
yup thats installed, and its not that it fails to recognize it correctly as such, more that it doesnt register the card as being inserted atall, one brief orange flash of the led indicator next to the port, then nothing... It could be a faulty card I admit, but I have tried two different cards, from different manufacturers and both failed to work. Unfortunately I have no other sdhc compatible hardware to test either.

On windows xp or vista sometimes I need to go to my computer or computer and see the card or usb flash drive there to open it. I would guess that you checked this already.

then this would be a weird problem. But is your SD card usable in other computer?

Hello,
I've purchased the following 2 memory cards and both work flawlessly:
- Patriot LX 32GB SDHC (Class 10)
- Lexar Platinum II 32GB Memory Stick Pro Duo
I did a clean install of my system with Windows 7 Home Premium and installed all of the memory card drivers from the Sony website. Both cards were formatted NTFS. -
Thanks kevin, looks like I must have dodgy cards.

I realised that my PS3 had an SD slot, and it reads both cards perfectly, and writes to them. I tried using that to format the cards which worked, but I dont know what file system it used. The cards still do not read in the Z11 however.

I am using a class 4 kingston 32 GB in my Z and it works great.
