    hey guys,

i've got a few questions on my sony vaio z11mnb:
    Hope you can help me!

    1. How do i get bios updates? is there a possibility to update the bios on my own? sony.com doesn't provide any bios downloads... Perhaps it may help to registrate my notebook, in order to solve this problem???

    2. At the moment i'm running winxp sp3. Is there any chance to get the stamina switch working without rebooting the operating system?

    3. As far as i know the vaio z11mnb has an acceleration sensor to protect the hard disk when it falls down. But this is a hardware imlemented function and i do not need any drivers or special os software to use this feature?!

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello,

so the first and the second problems are solved...
But what about the hdd protection software?
I'v installed the protection driver. Shouldn't there be an entry for hdd protection in the vaio control center/safety? I can't find anything...

Different board postings said there is an utility to view the protection status?

AFAIK, the utility to check status is Vista-only. I use XP and haven't seen any utility for the HDD Protection - just the driver. I guess you're expected to trust it works?

It works fine in XP without the utility.
