The drivers are not in the Sony site for the Z11. It is an omission. Get them from the section on the sony site for the Z21. Here is a link

    http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/preinstalled/preinstalled.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=0&s=-1&m=4505

    Scroll to the bottom.
First install Wireless WAN driver (option)
    Then install
    WWAN driver R ENU
This will get them up and running.
Lastly you just need to create a dial up from the network manager to get it connected. Installed these last night on my Z11VN under Windows 7(beta) and they work perfectly. Several items are added to the device manager.
I'd forget about the bundled T-Mobile (or other) software and just use Vista's own in conjunction with Sony Smart Network.

Is the Z sold in the UK locked to T mobile or can I use anyone?

It's not locked. The software included is T-mobile only, but you can use it without the software as long as you can find the dial-up commands to use for the other network you want to use. I don't you use the T-mobile software, but I still use T-mobile. I just use vista/Win 7 dialup networking.

Cool thanks. Any pointers on setting up the dial up networking or is it as simple as setting up a dial up as though it was a traditional copper wire phone modem?

Thanks for that but globe trotter connect says device not found :(

Was the driver for the device embeded in the T mobile software i just removed maybe?

I have tried downloading the drivers mentioned in the post above by sigma957 the Wireless WAN Driver Option folder contains a load of files but no executables or setup files. Can anyone shed any light on what I need to do with the files please?

    Thanks :)

WingnutLP maybe you might have inserted your sim card inserted the wrong way. If you have not used it yet in your Z at all try inserting it again in a different way. This has happened to me before.

If that fails try and see if any of these drivers are different here. As far as i am aware other Z users have used the Globetrotter connect software that i linked to you above.

    Doh,

I need to turn wireless on first in the vaio connection manager and then run globetrotter.

It works like a charm and here in north london I seem to have a blazing connection speed :)

It seems much faster than my Xperia X1 so I am chuffed!

Thanks for all of the help :) :)
