    Hey Guys,

I have a copy of windows 7 pro I want to install on my Z12, and I want to do a clean install to get rid of all the bloatware. I know its bad to format SSD's with the regular windows format, so I'm wondering what to use. I tried to use HDD Erase, but the bios won't let me put it in legacy IDE mode which is required for HD Erase, also I'm kind of worried about the Raid. I read somewhere that you can break the read in windows and then recreate it after you wipe both partitions with HD Erase, but again the Bios on these things is very limited and won't let me put it in IDE mode.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Nate

Why is it bad to format an SSD drive exactly?

If you are just installing a fresh copy of Windows, delete and setup the partitions via the Windows installer. There isn't any reason to do a full wipe of the drive.

If you want to get fancy, you can do a ' clean -all' from DISKPART, but it isn't necessary.

It may be bad to do a full format, but there's nothing wrong with doing a quick format. Just do that. Right from the Windows 7 installer itself. Don't overcomplicate your life.
