    I recently bought a VAIO VPC-Z12X9E/X.

While the machine seems to be superb, it only has 128 Gb of SSD.

I've been reading now for days on this forum on what and where from I should order a bigger one, but I still don't understand.

Can you help me out, please? I'm trying to get 256 Gb at least on this baby...

Just try "SSD" in the "description" field and look for any "VPC-ZXX" model

You'll find in the third page that all VPC-Z SSDs are decribed as "NAND BASED SSD INTERNAL"

You'll be able to get 600$+ SSD (probably 128GB, but no clue if it is single or double sided and then 50% chance it will not work for a raid0 with your 128GB double sided SSD)
Or 1200$+ SSD (probably 256GB, double sided)

    Call sony for further details...
    OR digg the forum.

thats right, but seems that nobody tried upgrading their ssd's by that. In addition to the ssd module, one will need the right ribbon cable to hook that up (if you have a 2x64gb setup and want e.g. a 4x64gb, you need a 2x64 module PLUS the ribbon cable with connectors for both modules -> see the various disassembly pics here in the forums). For that, I could not find any hint which P/N the ribbon cable has.

At $600 for 128 GB, I hardly find that surprising.

We may need someone to look into his/her Z for the part number.

    Any volunteer?

I don't think you'll find any part number written on Z's SSD. I assume that parts numbers are unique identifiers used only by sony for stock management.

BUT you might find out what SSD will fit your Z by calling sony ( pick one and try)

I'm doubtful that'll help. They will only replace what you already have; in Sony's business model, the way to upgrade a Vaio is to buy a new Vaio.

After verification, what he's selling is for a X series VAIO, not for Z.
