When I dock my Z (VCPZ12CGX/X) I am not able to use the Verizon broadband card that it came with because it says that it's disabled. The hardware doesn't even show up in the Device Manager. It does however work fine when the notebook is not docked. Has anyone here experienced this same behavior?

I have two docking stations; one for my office and one for home and it happens with both of them. I purchased them from the SonyStyle store (and at the same time) where I purchased the notebook from. The docking station model number is VGP-PRZ10.

I have an open event with Sony tech support, but they are very slow to respond. Any help would be very much appriciated!

Is smartwi disabling it because it is detecting a wired connection? Can you just turn it back on in the smartwi utility?

I don't have either docking station wired.

I can turn it on through the SmartWi utility and then it will say initiating (VZAccess Manager) but quickly reverts back to 'device disabled'.

Solved. You must have the battery installed when docked for the Verizon Card to work. Lame.
