    Hi,

    I am facing an odd issue.

    My Display (900p) died (showing streaks in Bios, nothing in Windows: Hardware fault - external display working fine) and I ordered a new 1080p display as a replacement.

    I fitted that and was happy that Bios, Boot Menu and Boot Logo showed up fine... but Windows wouldn't.

    I noticed that it would only show 1 display (external) in the display configuration - but clearly it's fine in Bios and Boot-Up.

    So I even went as far as re-installing Windows (8 x64, but I also tried 7) and the display worked fine during installation. It also worked on initial boot-up, but after installing the NVidia Drivers, it disappeared again.

    So Windows own "Generic Display Driver" does recognize the internal display (as a generic non-pnp monitor), but once the NVidia Driver is installed, it goes away...

    Any ideas or suggestions how to fix that?

    Here's another observation: Changing the Graphics to Stamina, the display works fine (I have the custom Bios) - it appears the Intel recognizes it, but the Nvidia doesn't.
    How is this possible? Is there any connection to the NVidia? I'd think it's on board and both GPUs use the same connections - if one work, so should the other?

    In the older hybrid graphics like what the VPC-Z13 uses, the Intel and Nvidia GPUs have their own separate connections to the screen.

    Where / how? - Does that mean my mainboard is fried, or is there any connector that can be refitted?

    There is only one cable to the display (30pin LVDS)

    ///// UPDATE \\\\
    I disassembled the whole thing again and apparently there are in fact two connectors from the mainboard to the display:
    ((picture removed))

    1 cable is disconnected from the white plug. :eek:

    Can someone help me with a part number to replace the display cable?

    ///// Update 2 \\\\\
    Nevermind, this was the webcam cable. Argh! So there is just one connector to the display and the webcam is probably not working anymore.

    Back to square one: How could I possibly fix connectivity between NVidia GPU and Display?

    Put the switch to speed and restart in safe mode. Once you are there, change the display resolution to the basic resolution of your screen (1600 x 900, 59Hz). Reboot.

    I don't even get to the (Safe) Boot Menu / OS Selection. The screen powers down completely (including Backlight) so it does seem to be a Hardware Issue.

    From the external monitor, can you try to set up the internal monitor?

    @digitaldriver, you have Nvidia graphics chipset issue, not LCD issue.
    Your second post is saying that. You will need to find any shop with capable doing bga stuffs to fix the issue.
    If you are in the Western US, I may be able to help you.
