    Hi Guys,

I have a vaio Z 133gx/b, just bought it from microsoft store when they were offering it for $1000.

I have noticed that the lid is a little curved (not too much ) and not straight. Is this normal?

Also I hear a slight CPU whine, is this normal too?

    Thanks,

Normally it's straight. Maybe you can post a picture?

Mine is ever so slightly curved as well. If you hold a straight edge up to the outside of your lid vertically and perpendicularly, you'll see that it's a slight arc shape. (so slight we're talking about 1mm arc on each side)

I would not worry about it.

    Yes, a slight arc..
I also have noticed that when I try to close the lid, the right hand side hits the base first.

Also there is a slight gap at the centre when the lid is closed is that normal too?

    What about the CPU whine?

I don't think it's suppose to be curved. It's probably bad batch. Maybe the parts got worse as it's coming to end of line product. I know, luxury top of the line laptops shouldn't be like that.

I also saw one that was slightly curved in sony store. When I ordered a refurbished Z1290CTO three months ago, that one was totally straight, and the lid was closing exactly fit. I think MBP13 are really the best if you want a perfect design perfect finish, but they are kind of heavy.

    it is usually curved.

i have had 4 VGN-Z and 3 VPC-Z and every one of them had a curved lid.

    don't worry!

My VPCZ1290X has a slight curve at the edge of the lid where the camera is located.. The rest of the screen seems to be straight up and down, seems normal to me.. I wouldn't worry!

Mine's curved as well. If it was straight, I'd worry about it.
