    Hi guys,

so im facing a problem that a Sony Vaio Z21 laptop does not start up when i push start button neither Assist button. However, when i push Assist button, the led under it gives some blink of light but then fades out. PSU is in woking condition and orange light is on when i plug it. Does anyone know where the problem is or should i go straight to servive repair center? Thanks

In my model the battery is removable - there are two sliders on the back (one marked release and one marked lock); flip them and the battery can then be pulled out. Don't know if it is the same in yours.

If you manage to get it out, unplug the mains adapter, press the power button for a few seconds, then leave the laptop unpowered for a while - 10 to 30 minutes. Now plug the adapter back in and try turning it on. Good luck.

The battery on the Z2 is only removable by removing the screws. However, there is a battery off button that's worth trying. You need to use a paper-clip and hold it down for 3 seconds. It's in the manual (pp 25, 162):
