Hi!
I use a Benq 1920x1200 at work and one at home via HDMI-DVI cable. It worked well until the Benq at home died. I got money back from Benq and bought a Dell U2711 and thought that I could get 2560x1440 resolution on my Sony. Stupid me![]()
I use Win7. But what really makes meis that the highest resulution on the Dell U2711 I can get is 1600x1200!!!
I can't choose 1920x1200 from the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7.
I can set 1920x1080 in the the Screen resolution chooser in Win 7, but then I get a dark screen on Dell showing text "unsupported resolution".
Powerstrip monitor info says that 1920x1200x60Hz is supported, but not 1920x1080, so the "unsupported resolution" on Dell monitor is correct.
But how do I make is possible to choose 1920x1200 from Win7???
When I try to use Powerstrip to make resolution 1920x1200 I get the error message: "This parameters you have specified may be beyond the capabilities of your monitor or graphics card. Please recheck the resolution, horizontal and vertical refresh rates, and the pixel clock to ensure they are within spec.". But I can't do anything more...
So how do I at least make it possible to use 1920x1200 on the big 2560x1440 screen?

I've seen a number of posts on that, I can't confirm 1920x1200 works (for some it does, others no
) I think folks have also been looking at ViDocks, again I believe there are issues, for instance I think the peripherals surrounding the Nvidia chip uses single rather than dual link DVI (???), and because of that the Z doesn't have enough bandwidth to support higher resolution, although the NVidia chip itself can.

But cableing is not the issue here. It has worked before at home for 1920x1200, but after I bought a new screen I get maximum resolution of 1600x1200!!!
And still it works at work for 1920x1200... with exactly the same cable!!!

Could be because the U2711 has a 16:9 aspect ratio so can't display 1920x1200. I'm guessing your monitor at work is a 16:10 aspect ratio that's why it can display 1920x1200.

1. 1920x1200 are suported by Dell U2711.
2. I have a stationary PC that run the Dell U2711 in 1920x1200 mode.

I've noticed different driver versions working with different panels... it's all in how the Panel identifies to the Nvidia driver stack. It will determine what resolutions can be output from the Panel identification, but if it isn't identifying right, or doesn't recognize the ID then it won't output the correct resolutions. Have you tried the modded Nvidia drivers (assuming you don't have hybrid graphics)?

He has a Z21 per OP so he does has hybrid graphics.
