    Hi everyone

Some days ago my wife dropped my Sony Z21 from about 1 meter. Everything seems to work fine except Wlan, Bluetooth and HSDPA. I don't think that any of those modules are broken or something as everything else survived the drop. Does anyone know if all 3 wireless options are connected through some kind oa board? If so then I assume the connection is loose and that causes the wireless to drop. At the beginning it turned on and off the wireless ramdomly...

    Hopefully someone can help..

    Cheers

Not sure if it has a separate card or it it is built into the motherboard on this model. If it is a card, it may need reseating in the slot. Be sure to remove the battery before. Also check to see if there are tiny antenna connections that may have come loose. If it is on the motherboard you will need a manual to find out its location. I doubt reloading wireless application would work but it may be worth a shot.

Thanks for the suggestions... I took the Sony z apart and there was a connector loose. Now bluetooth and HSDPA works but wifi not!!!

Not sure if the module is broken or what's the problem.

I'm considering swapping the HSDPA modul with a mini pcie Wlan module I have lying here but I'm not sure if it will be recognised. Any one got an idea if that's possible?

    Cheers

AFAIK HSDPA/WWAN is connected through intermediate piece, which is a UCB to miniPCI (or is it miniPCI-E) controller. Theoretically should work but there is no guarantee. At least driver for HSDPA/WWAN is a USB device driver.

OK, found it. The slot appears to be miniPCI-E, which supports both PCI-E lanes and HS-USB lanes (High-Speed USB = USB 2.0). WWAN uses USB lanes in that connector. I have no idea if PCI-E lanes in that slot are properly connected to mainboard. If they are, you'll be able to use any miniPCI-E card.
