I see there is a hibernation partition and I wan to make sure if i understand correctly this has nothing to do with storing data when the pc goes to normal sleep and wakes up? I have already disabled hibernation and have no use for it. If i delete this partition will it affect the normal function of sleep in any way or is data actually stored in this partition before going to sleep?

    Thanks

Also I have created multiple copies of the recovery partition and I'm thinking about deleting this partition as well and adding it to C: using 3rd party software. I'm wondering if i should leave the windows 7 reserve partition during install (350MB) on this Z model compared to normal 100MB on clean install should I leave it alone.

I'm not 100% but the hibernation partition may be related to rapid wake.

    Rapid Wake IS hibernation.

To the OP: If you disabled hibernation, disable Rapid Wake in Control Centre and you can delete the partition.

Are you sure about that? I disabled Windows Hibernation and i put the laptop to sleep and it woke up in under 2 seconds as advertised. The Rapid wake is enabled in the sony control center however.

I understand if Rapid wake is not enabled the power led will blink amber and mine was off as it is supposed to operate when Rapid wake is enabled.

Also i got this from a sony users guide which is a little more confusing now but makes me believe they are not related but both called hibernation technically.

When you use the Hibernate mode, you need to disable Rapid Wake.

If you want to be able to use rapid wake, be careful with the partition table. There´s a thread about someone losing rapid wake after fiddling with the partitions, not sure if he was able to restore it. The problem seems to be that rapid wake is not documented enough for us to know what it needs, but I´m also fairly sure the hibernation partition is involved.

    Edit: here´s that thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/682906-rapid-wake.html

Thanks, i read that already, I plan to keep all the partitions in tact for now. Like you said until there is more info about Rapid wake and how it relates to the hibernation partition I will not mess with it. In the meantime I wonder if deleting the recovery partition and extending the C: logical partition would affect the Hibernation partition and rapid wake due to start and stop bit of that partition being moved around like MBR having to get recreated.
