OK - just installed the Intel X25 160GB SSD. If you all coach me on what benchmarks you would like to see I would be more than pleased to post them.

It does seem to make the system snappier - but I question the cost benefit.

My question for you all is that I cloned the drive using acronis true image and I am wondering if I would get better performance if I did a clean install rather than a clone of my drive?

OK - thanks for your help!

I did run HD Tune Pro 3.5 and was consistently geting about 150mb sec on the read benchmark.

Also the file benchmark was hitting well over 200mb sec on the read portion.

Is there anything specifically I should do to optomize Vista for an SSD?

I'd say your best bet would actually be to install Windows 7 on there; it apparently has lots of optimisations for SSD

I might do that on a second partition - just not sure I want to make the total switch and not sure it will support all of the programs that I use. OK - thanks!
