My Vaio Z720 intermittently stops detecting factory installed wifi, audio and fingerprint reader. It doesn't see the deivices even in device manager and reinstalling driver doesn't help. But, last time I lost all 3 devices I did a system restore and they came back. Too bad I can't get to that restore point anymore since windows lost it too.

I had laptop open long ago to install second hard drive into the optical drive bay. I suppose that poor connection may explain loosing fingerprint reader but ain't sound card and wifi are integrated into motherboard? What the best way to diagnose this?

Sounds all too familiar...........! So far in 18 months of owning my expensive (then) top of the range Vaio, it has been problem after problem, many along the lines you are suggesting. Now in communication with their Customer Complaints and apparently ' I have experienced nothing out of the ordinary'. Seems like Sony have problems but of course being a big IMPORANT Corporate giant we little folks are not supposed to make a fuss and complain!

Sorry I can't offer you a solution. Feels to me that you and I, + all the other dissatisfied Vaio owners, should all get together and make a You Tube video like the United Airlines one - THEN maybe Vaio might sit up and take notice.
