Hi, I have an SZ650. In the Vaio Camera Capture Utility, I seem unable to change the default 15 FPS recording Frame Rate in the camera settings. Also, I can only record in Mpeg-1 and cannot go more than 320x240 resolution. Does anyone know if we can change any of these settings somehow? In the user manual it says we can choose 30 FPS... but I fail to see how.

There must be a way to make it record to 30 fps, since it can definetely diplay at least that (i.e. the image without recording shows more fps than when recording)

Make sure you are running the latest version of the camera utility

I tried installing the latest version (2.7)... I had some problems getting the camera to work after; but regardless, the settings did not let me change the FPS. Is it possible that the camera in the SZ simply cannot record faster than 15 fps? I would think that software could change this, but maybe I'm wrong. MaXimus, what Vaio model do you have? Mine is SZ650.

I'm having the same problem with my SZ 691n/x. In fact it's been the only complaint I've had. Well, that and the fact that sony's drivers seem to counteract one another regardless of what order they are installed in.

I can't install version 2.7, the installer just closes. I found an older post about a Universal Extractor, but I get an error message when I try to install that.

It's written in my signature dude!

    Sony VAIO VGN-SZ484N/C

I can set the FPS to 30 FPS in the settings but my camera won't work with version 2.7, always gives me a message that the camera is in use alhtough it isn't! and the previous version have many bugs when recording video like the soung not being recorded! Sony's camera capture utility is crap! I wish there was another alternative!

Hmm, so if you can change the settings to 30 fps on your SZ484, I should be able on mine. I'm going to try again installing different versions of the software. I will post if I find a solution.

To POMF2K, I had to use the Universal Extractor to install version 2.7. I got some problems at first like you described, but somehow I ran it twice and it worked (I think it unistalled it the first time, and then reinstalled). In any case, I got the blue screen and camera already in use message with version 2.7, so I don't advise using it. I reverted back to 2.3.

This is really bothering me. Can anyone with an SZ650 (or any SZ6 premium) tell me if they can switch this FPS to 30? Im beginning to believe that it simply cannot be done on my model for some odd reason. Sony seems to be removing functionality to their cameras?
