I have a Vaio running Windows 7 which is freezing regularly on start up, log in or after the desk top has loaded. I have to use the on/off button to get out of it.The freezing only happens rarely when streaming or using a serial/USB lead.

On restart I can sometimes start windows normally but other occassions I get to Start Up Repair or occassionally System restore

It appears that using something "chatty" is stopping the freezing but I cannot make any sense of this. Anyone know what's happening here?

Thanks, in advance for any help on this.

My guess would be failing Hard Drive

Back-up your stuff and buy an SSD.

    Thanks for the reply

That's what I suspected, but can't understand why it works near perfectly all the time I am streaming something.

Everything already backed up, looks like I'm off to buy an SSD
