    Vaio keys won't work

    Hi. I have a vaio svs13a1s9es model and f2,f3,f4,f5,f,f7,f8,f9,f10,f11,f12,delete,insert,numlock and fn does not work. Also some keys have wrong fuctions for example f3 opens search, So far i have tried unistalling and reinstalling the keyboard drivers, doing registry defrag, enabling some services,going through windows and sony care troubleshoot and opening windows in safe mode but still nothing works....

    1. maybe look at running intl.cpl from the start menu searchbox and see if the correct keyboard layout is selected.
    2. maybe the keyboard is broke?

    It's not the 1st I have already checked that, and the keyboard cant be broken because yesterday it was working fine and today simultaneously 17 keys don't work.....

    All it means is that one of the dozen or so traces that make up the flat PCB connector is not making contact with the connector socket. This is not easy to fix; needs good hands or you'll make it worse.

    1. You could try wiping the contact portion of the flat ribbon. Maybe some oxide build up is preventing a good contact.
    2. Where the flat ribbon enter the connector, you'll see a piece of stiff (usually blue) plastic. Cut a sheet of plastic to the same size, and put it on top of the blue plastic, and push the whole lot into the connector. This increases the effective thickness of the ribbon and improves the chances for a good contact.

    FIXED it.. the corner of the connector had been disconnected somehow...problem solved now..thank you anytimer!!!
