This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Vaio laptop VGN-NR32L volume controls.

    The volume controls om my laptop are very erratic.

    Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. If I put the laptop into hibernate, then back on, everything works again. Problem is present whether I adjust volume using Fn keys or volume mixer slidebar.
    Too often there's no response to the keys, but as I say, if I put the computer into hibernate then back out, the controls (both methods) start to work fine.
    Problem is certainly software related.

    Anyone have an idea what I can do? All drivers are up to date. No other issues with the machine which is 18 months old (out of warranty) and runs vista.
