New to the laptop world. Been wanting one for a while and finally looking to pull the trigger. Something i have noticed from looking at some of the vaio models they will all vary by a number or letter at the end. What does this tell me about the computer ? The two different models are :

    NW270f/t
    NW275f/w

How are these two different ? besides color, one was gray and one was white ?

And also the FW series i looked at was a FW520f/t.

I am trying to figure out what the differences are so i can get to the point of comparing them price vs performance etc... Any info would be great, looking forward to joining the Vaio world soon.

i dont think you can actually tell what is in the laptop specifically by the number code it has, i guess they each just have something seperate and thats all i can say as far as my understanding
    /(letter) usually stands for colour
and some number for example(i dont know if this is true or correct model specs) : FW550 VS FW560 maybe it could be a Hard drive change from 250GB to 320GB or something like that.
one thing i can tell you
is that the 1st number you can tell when it was released in a way
    for example
    FW1xx(1st release)
FW2xx(2nd release, might have minor changes, released 3-4months after the 1st time laptop was released,.....so on and so forth)
    FW3xx
    FW4xx
    FW5xx
These are called refreshes, meaning the specs are refreshed during this time, sometimes its they add screen res variation, like maybe FW1-2 only had an option for 1440x900 and 1600x900 but starting from FW3xx they put in the option for 1920x1080. Sometimes a CPU change. like the newest FW5xx includes a refresh of OS and that was Win7, thats all
These refreshes happen 3-4 months time after previous refresh sometimes more.
but not all models reach the same number
FW came out 2008 so it started from there but NW came out this september or so so its only on number 2 i think.
but yeah the numbers originally are to tell difference of different variations from model to model is all pre-configured models.
