I'm just wondering, why would Sony manufacture a netbook?
(I can't actually see their pupose as my old Medion 1,6GHz Centrino/1GB RAM was on one occasion to slow for PowerPoint...)

Sony has got the G series (or had) the UX and the TZ as ultraportable laptops. So why would they build something "cheap"?
As far as I'm aware netbook were meant to be cheap, but Sony doesn't really manufacture cheap products...

i think sony could find a market with a cross between an ultra and the C series. so small factor like the TZ but lower feature set (non business), and more of a 'fashion' look like the C series.

not cheap but not the higher end either

i think it could work but admittedly know nothing about notebook marketing/manufacturing etc

Because the market for netbooks is huge and growing and Sony wants to have a piece of this new market.

Sony will probably introduce an Atom based netbook, a bit more expensive and better looking than the competion.

Sony already has UX, G and TZ but these are (more than) twice as expensive because of the ULV CPUs they use.

Thats a really strange article, given that Sony did pioneer this area in the first place.

Essentially what I thikk we are waiting for is the successor to the UX........I still have my U101 Vaio - its amazing tat somethig over 5 years old is so thoroughly modern still.

In interestingly the Fujitsu U1010 looks like the Vaio U101 and recently they launched the U2010....the main difference being the screen flips around and is touch. I wouldnt be surprised to see the new Sony U looking like this.

Incidentally, my Vaio U101 with extended battery lasts a good eight hours. It is a fantastic little machine.
