I think about one year ago I started an equal thread.

I have one problem with my nearly perfect running Vaio Z11!
When I have it on Power with powercable plugged in it is all fine. But when I want to take the laptop with me and plug it out, the Vaio shuts down.

The only resolution that worked for me was, when that happend to put out the battery and put it back...

Is this a bios bug or what is this?

What exactly is the problem? Are you on speed mode or stamina? Which graphics drivers are you running? Have you updated your Z to the latest official BIOSes? What is happening? You say you take out the plug and it "shuts down", but the way to fix it is to pull out the battery and put it back in? (That doesn't make sense because if you took out the battery, then unplugged it, your Vaio would just shut down because it has no power). The more detailed you are, the better we can help you.

Sounds like an issue with the battery or the connectors of battery->laptop.

Can you see the battery charge status in windows?
Can you power on the laptop unplugged with battery inside?

You should also check the contacts of your battery.

I can power the Laptop not plugged in. In Stamina and in Speed works. Even switching is working.

When I habe it plugged in I always use Speed- Mode.

I can see the battery charging...

I have to say that the problem does not occur every time. But I do not know what I have done before, when this happens!

    @Achusaysblessyou:

I have the Laptop plugged in on Speed Mode. Then I want to take it away and unplug the Z. Sometimes it shuts immediately off. The I cannot power the Z on. Even when unplugged, nor when I replug it.
Then I have to take out the battery and put it back. After that all is fine until the next unplug and shut down...

Please report what VAIO Control Center in the battery tab says. Probably the controller in your battery is bad or something.

It says that the battery status is good...
I have activated the battery care function at 80%.. Is this useful or is it a useless Sony gadget?

I was experiencing unexpected shutdowns from time to time on my z12 about a year ago (when on battery) but the series of shutdowns went away as unexpectedly as they started.
In the Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor it showed something like “Windows was not properly shut down” and no specific application was listed as causing the problem just some error code. Googled for the code and found no clues. Also did system Vaio System Care stuff and malware scan, all Windows updates were installed too, but shutdowns reoccurred. Sent information about this problem through Windows error reporting system a couple of times.
Then I found in Vaio Care, Diagnostics, Software, Self Heal a patch to install, which I did, and haven’t seen such a shutdown again. Maybe something else helped me but the system is perfectly stable for me now.

Hmm interesting... Does this happen when your laptop is in stamina mode? if not, it'll rule out a bad battery

When I am in stamina mode and plug the Z in and unplug it I never have had this issue...
