Hey guys, I've recently cleaned up my new Vaio Z138GG and removed much of the sony bloatware (except update and gate). I've also disabled or set to manual a lot of the services that run in the background following the "tweaked" guidelines from this link:

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Service Configurations by Black Viper

The cleaning was done via CCleaner, and the disabling was done through msconfig and service. So far everything seems fine. I will post in this thread any problems I encounter so we can share our experiences and find solutions.

From out of the box, the Vaio Z was running approximately 105 processes at start up. I am now currently at 71 processes. I have achieved about 65processes before, but lost functionality (safely remove hardware somehow was not functioning).

Anyway, currently I haven't encounter much issue except my fingerprint login (Protector Suite 2009) isn't running due to dependency service or group failing to start. Does anyone know which service this may be?

    Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Is Protector Suite 2009 running? I haven't looked into what that does yet but it's running in my notification tray and is related to the fingerprint reader.

Yes, it is running in the task bar, but when clicked there is an error that says a dependent service/ group failed to start. I'm not sure what the service is, and if it should be set to auto or if manual would suffice?

Also, is your Windows Biometric Service running? this is set to Automatic and is started on my PC.

Thanks Jakem. I actually did have Biometric Services running, but there is a dependency called Credential Manager which I did not have running. All is fixed now. Thanks again for your input!
