    Hey there,

Everytime I boot up into Vista Business the vaio smart network software connects to the wireless router but it always has unidentified network in the vista tasktray network icon. I cant get a internet connection, I can ping the router and get an ip. The way I get my internet back is by having to turn the wireless switch off then on again. I've been having the issue for a very long time, around the time I got it, the computer is 4 - 5 weeks old. It's a Sony Vaio SZ series.

Can someone please help, is this a common issue!?

Firstly, isolate the problem by identifying whether it is attributed to the router or notebook.

Use another notebook and create an auto connect profile. If this "other" notebook can identify / connect to your router upon startup, then the problem is possibly with your SZ. Else, it is very probable the router problem.

If it is your SZ. Delete the existing auto connect profile and re-create another one. If this still fails, contact Sony technical support.

If it is your router. Connect your SZ to the router using a lan-cable and re-do the router set-up by following the instruction in your router package. If it still fails, contact the technical support of your router brand.
