That little balloon icon with the lightening bolt through it that pops into the tray when there's an update to download from the sony website...

Has anyone else had the issue where it'll show up, you'll click on it and be taken to sony's download site, download the driver it's telling you about, install it, reboot and then the icon will keep showing up telling you you need to download and install the driver you've just installed?

Any advice? I suppose I could uncheck "inform me of updates" and just manually check, but...

    Thanks!

Update the driver. It really works. I did actually, and a problem with my wireless system has been solved.

I did already. That's what I'm saying. I've updated that wireless driver like 4 times. in fact if I go to device manager and check the version of the wireless driver, it says it's that version that vaioupdate is trying to make me download again...

It keeps popping up right? I hated that and turned the system tray icon off. You should do that. Just switch it not the display the tray icon. The program will run in the background and warn you whenever there is a "new" driver (hopefully). That will solve your problem. (The driver is updated, don't worry.)

I disabled all those features. I don't know how much memory it uses, but anything removed meant less memory usage. Also, Sony rarely release updates, so I usually just manually check the support page to see if there's any update worth getting.

You can manually do it at http://esupport.sony.com for your model number.
