Sony should have shipped a restore CD with the OS on it, if not seperate. If not, call them and ask them to send you one.

For some reason Sony doesn't ship some of their laptops with a CD of drivers, I checked when my cancelled (yeah I know, weird.) Vaio A came in (was curious but I don't like it too much so I'm sending it back.)

    Youhou,

May I ask what you didn't like about the A series Vaio? Why don't they include a driver CD? The original drivers are not (yet?) on the website either.

Thanks for your response. I can certainly see your reasons. I ordered the widescreen version with the 9700 video card, and 1.7 GHz Pentium M, though. I've seen the notebook at a computer store and I concur with your opinion regarding screen, and looks.

The concern I have is the lack of a driver CD since I most likely will put in a 7K60 harddrive. I hope Sony is going to make the drivers available online. If not I might have to call tech support to ask for a CD.

Good luck with your purchase and good luck especially to upgrading your hard drive.

Your specs look great, even if there's only 64 mb of VRAM, I could only wish I could afford that price [ :(]

You mean Fn+brightness key doesn't work? I never had that problem after formatting, and reinstalling the OS.
