I need some help from you guys :). I've been on the phone with with Vaio and D-Link Support for more than I'd ever want. I'm thinking some people on this forum are probably using the same setup as I am.

I cannot get a connection beyond 54mbps with my N router when I connect my Vaio to it. My Vaio as the Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection (802.11a/b/g/n). Have any of you been able to?

Firmware/drivers for router and adapter are updated. Both supports say that my router is set to broadcast and adapter is set to receive. I've fiddled with a ton of settings and none work.

I just hung up with Vaio tier 2 support, and they basically said that the drivers currently offer do not unlock all the capabilities of the card to be more compatible with the newer routers and so its a hit or miss in terms of being able to get N speed or not...haha god I love software/hardware development.

But if anyone has this router and card combo and can get over 54mbps, I'd REALLY appreciate it if you would share with me your connection settings!

Much appreciated and I hope everyone has a great 3 day weekend (although i must work...haha).

I don't have D-link, so I can't help. But I have TZ180N with Intel N, and it works perfectly with my Linksys WRT160N. I am connecting at 130Mbps. I am using latest version of Intel WLAN v11.5.1.15. So I think, Intel N is not a problem. Check your router.

Should have just gone with the brand i knew was better. -_- thanks.

If you do a little Googling on the subject of Wireless-N and G interference you'll find that most routers cannot handle mixed-mode N and G very well, and you'll often drop out of N.

I'm not sure if this apples to your case, but if you have other clients connecting via 802.11a/b/g the signal overlap may be causing the speed to deop down to regular G levels even when connected via N. Try disabling the a/b/g on the Dlink (I have a Dlink N router as well, and have connected regularly at 200+) and see how that goes. When I disable/enable mine I will get much higher speeds sustained with an N only enviornment.

    thanks for replying.
i fixed it with a hard reset on the router.
there was an advanced setting on the router that i had deactivated because i thought it wasnt necessary for my application of my network devices, but apparantly thats what stopped N.
