Quick question, on my vaio z21, if I want to play games and use a fairly old tv without hdmi, should I use RCA to VGA or RCA to hdmi? I would of course be using the external graphics card while playing games like super street fight 4.

probably VGA, an HDMI converter could make lag, and it is more expensive.

^ Second that, HDMI->RCA/S-Video need digital-analog conversion through an electronic. VGA is already analog so is the cheaper and easier route.

Depending on the input signal capabilities of your TV, a simple passive adapter like one of these ~8$ shipped VGA-RCA/S-Video adapters may work:

If not (no progressive mode support etc.), you need a VGA->RCA/S-Video converter which is more expensive and needs a power supply to power the converter electronic.
