As I have mentioned on the other thread, I just got a z11 and will be returning my macbook pro soon.

The only thing that is making me hesitant is the screen brightness of the z. With the plug in and full brightness, it's not that bright, at least NO WHERE NEAR as bright as the macbook pro with high res anti-glare. Is this normal?

How many of you Z owners find the screen brightness too low? Even at full, it feels dim.

My z gets uncomfortably bright at max setting. Are you sure auto brightness is disabled?

    @ beaups

The new Z is not even comparable to the brightness levels the old Z could offer. The max brightness level on the new Z is quite dark compared to that of the old Z. And yes, the auto brightness option has been disabled.

I didn't know we were comparing it to the old Z ? :)

I've had both, yes the old z is brighter.

I will say after playing with some "other" OS's on my Z that something is limiting the Z's brightness from within Windows. It is MUCH brighter in other os's. You can feel even quite a bit of heat on the bottom-rear of the panel when running these other os's. I am afraid it could even cause harm?

Do you guys have the 1080P screen? I have heard they are quite a bit dimmer than the 1600x900 screen I have.

Hmm, I find my 1600x900 screen too bright at times and I rarely have it at full brightness. Although I never owned a MBP or the older Z...

Yeah, I think this was discussed in the Official Vaio Z thread, it's dimmer because you're trying to force light through even more pixels between the 900p vs 1080p screens. Someone had both the 900p and the 1080p screens and I think they said the 1080p's max brightness was like 1 mark down from the 900p's max brightness.

Its has a 330 CDM brigthness level huge contrast level of 630:1, though sadly its not a true matte screen due to it has a hence of a glossy film, but it is easily viewable outside though which matters to me for an ultra portable The brightness is fine it doesn't bother me at all.

I'm with jagr... anybody figure out how to tweak the auto brightness settings? I too find that it's a bit dim for my taste when under auto adjust. I find the brightness just fine when I disable auto adjust.
