I was just wondering if anyone else has an old(er) sony laptop that they still use?

I have a Z505LS, that I still use almost every day. My experience with it was the deciding factor when I chose to upgrade to the GRT360. It may be slow, and cranky. But it is very light and can hold its own against most programs. I even use Photoshop 7.0 on it!

Come on people, strut your stuff.

Is it just me or is my sony possessed by Satan?

I had an XG29 that I beat the **** out of. I JUST now replaced it with an s series. It was a pretty durable laptop, I put it through all the rigors of college, throwing it around on the bed, dropping it, etc. Over time there were only three things that really went wrong with it:

    1) The screen developed a dark spot where I was fond of pressing my fingers while opening the latch with my thumb

    2) Sony had this brilliant idea of having a collapsable vent for the giant heatsinks that cooled the desktop PIII they stuck it in. This thing was a ***** to close from day one, and eventually broke so that I had to take a screw driver to it to get it open again and have access to the ports, power cable, etc. This is a very specific design flaw though, so I wouldn't count it against other sony models.

    3) After about 3.5, 4 years, some of the keys began to lose their responsiveness. Especially common keys like 'e.' VERY annoying when this happened because I'd really have to nail the key to get it to respond. The keyboard on this laptop was always attracting all kinds of grime underneath it though, and I'm sure this contributed to the problem.

Other than that, the thing is still truckin after 5 years! Original RAM chip, HDD, etc. I'm planning on donating it to my girlfriend who needs a newer DTR.
