I need help troubleshooting the LCD monitor from VAIO VGN-AR350E. my screen currently looks like the picture that I have attached, only the left side of the screen displays correctly and the right side is just a bunch of vertical lines of varying colors. what would be my process for troubleshooting and/or correcting this problem. I have already taken off the LCD bezel and keyboard. I have never had a VAIO laptop so I am pretty new to them. if no-one that looks at my thread has any answers then please direct me to where I can get some. although I did post this issue in the "SONY" section of this forum.

This is NOT an issue with the LCD panel. Promise. I really needed a picture of what you were talking about... IMO, it's a problem with the NVidia 7600 Graphics adapter. I've had that SAME issue with 2 HP's with that SAME EXACT card. This is an issue Sony is unwilling to accept responsibility for though, as they only recognize the 8400/8600m. The 76xx/78xx/79xx series in addition to the 84xx/86xx series were all susceptable to the same issues, where when subjected to heat then cooled, in rapid succession for a while, the solder under the GPU core actually cracks. You can actually bake it back to life, but that is, sadly, only a temporary fix.

Thank you for your response KGK2007 and I have been looking into a replacement video card for this laptop and it will be about 120 bucks and the new keyboard will be about 50 buck so I don't think that I want to invest that much into a repair. maybe I will reconsider in the future.. I have a ATI Radeon 9600 pro turbo video card that came out of an dell inspiron laptop I had, do you think that will fit in this one?
