I did a clean installation of Win XP SP2 on a FJ270Q and cannot get the FN keys to work. I have tried every single thread I can get my hands on and simply gave up. I do not have the recovery cd's, installed the drivers necessary in multiple orders according to different threads and still nothing. HELP PLEASE...

I downloaded + installed each and every single driver from the site. All under the FJ-270Q that is.

Did you follow the "Windows XP Clean Install" GUIDE at the top of the Sony eSupport page?

Not I did not, I deleted the partition, made a clean installation and did not make a recovery cd. Installed the drivers from the site and all worked fine except for the fn keys. Very frustrating, been trying for a week now.

    Thanks

Well, I would suggest you read the guide. There are specific requirements to get everything working properly. Look at the guide under "E. Vaio Application Dependencies". Are you sure you have the Sony Shared Library, Sony Notebook Utilities, AND Sony Control Device Driver installed? They are all required.

I had a similar problem and it was because I did not have the Shared Library installed. Easy fix!
