Right this bit of Sony bloatware is constantly raping my cpu usage and it is starting to annoy me as I cant seem to see much point in it. Does anyone actually know what the point in it is? And is it safe to just disable it from running unless asked to? If so how?
I have already been onto MSCONFIG but I cant find it in the list of programs that run on start up, although there is A LOT of Sony ones which I'm tempted to disable as well but not sure what consequences may arise from that?
I'm guessing its not on there because it doesn't run every start up so how do I go about disabling it?
    Cheers :)

I noticed that it would use up a lot of my cpu too... so then i uninstalled it... two months ago... So i would have to say it's safe. Just dont uninstall the sony event manager, that's the important one since it usually controls the fn keys.

is there anyway to disable it so I can still have it but just not have it on all the time?
Im guessing you uninstalled it by finding the folder it was in and there was a uninstall .exe? as it hasn't got a start menu entry...?

To uninstall, do what you usually do, go to Control Panel > Program and Features then go find it and uninstall it.

Just so you know guys, Media Gallery or other possible names is not listed in my Programs and Features. Even though I found Vpmlm.exe in Sony folder, i didn't want to just rename it or something, so i went into Media Gallery and tweaked some settings. Under content management, there is a analysis and preference learning setting, I went into there and turned EVERYTHING off, i'll see how this will turn out...
