I have a SONY VIAO VGN-SZ433N_B. I'm constantly reminded that there are new updates for my lap top, but when I try to install I am told 'VAIO Update 4.0 is required. VAIO Update (Ver. 4.0 and above) is required on your VAIO Notebook.'

So I installed Sony Update 4.0.0.08240 but still it isnt recognised. I have even tried to uninstall the previous Update module and then re install without success. I keep getting the same message, indicating that the Viao Update 4 I have isnt being recognised.

Please help me as this has been going on for months. :(

Save your Update 4.0xxxx setup module. Remove the Sony Update program from Windows Add-Remove Software. Re-install the Update module. Try again.

    Good luck.

You don't need Vaio Update program. Sony barely updates their drivers.

Pretty much. The only new drivers you need other than the ones Sony provides are a new wireless driver from intel and a new graphics card driver from ATI or nvidia (and since its Sony laptopvideo2go.com).

I still dont understand why it isnt recognizing Update 4. I downloaded and saved Update 4.0 setup module to my Vaio, then deleted the installed Update 4. I then restarted the Vaio and installed the newly saved Vaio Update 4. I restarted the Vaio, tried to do an update using the newly installed Update 4 and again got this message, 'VAIO Update 4.0 is required.
VAIO Update (Ver. 4.0 and above) is required on your VAIO Notebook.'
I am so annoyed with this, and what with the slowness of this lap top. I'm not sure if that is caused by Windows Vista installed on it.
I thought Sony was supposed to be quality, but I would never buy another Sony Vaio.

I think something is broken on Sony's eSupport Web site. The Download Taxi doesn't work either. But like 'coolguy' and 'jsf_entusiast' say, there is no reason to use any of the Sony Update software. Sony rarely provide updated drivers. They just want you to buy a new laptop everytime something doesn't work. That's how they make their money and many of us are dumb enough to go buy a Sony VAIO. Sorry I digressed.
