I purchased a VGN-AR630E sometime around January 2008 that has been completely awesome up until last month, when I had to turn off the laptop during a game with the power button. When it restarted, the initial VIAO screen had a bunch of vertical lines, the following screen had a bunch of ((((( on it, and windows would not start outside of safe mode. I paid Sony to connect to my laptop to fix the issue which I was told the first time was virus related, the next time it was due to using a registry booster program a year ago. By this time the problem had worsened to the point where I could not get into windows even with safe mode, so I purchased the VIAO recovery disks and set my computer to original factory condition. Initially this worked and the computer ran great for about a day, until I installed a game and ran it. It lasted about 5 minutes before getting a BSOD for video error and back to vertical lines on startup and a bunch of ((((((((. Next step was to use the recovery program to write over the hard drives a bunch of times and start from a completely clean slate. I installed everything from the recovery discs again and the computer failed to start windows for the first time. I hit the power button for 5 seconds and restarted to, you guessed it, vertical lines and a bunch of (((((((((. By this time Ive realized it is a hardware error, and need a point in the right direction to get this resolved. Ive already dumped a bunch of money into this thing with no results, all I want is my laptop to work like it did before December when it developed a terminal illness and died, Im not ready to give up because I like the blu-ray and big screen. Any suggestions?

Doubt it - its soldered to the motherboard as far as I am aware - so all you'll get is a replacement Motherboard.

With a newer version of the Nvidia chip that does not have the thermal expansion issue that the old one did.
