    HI All,

I just bought a sony vaio sz483 1 mth ago but i realise that sometimes when i play back avi video animation , there will be intermittent jerking of the animation. It happens regardless of whichever player im using etc windows media player , Divx player, winamp player , etc etc.....

However the problem doesnt happen if i play the same file from an external source like DVD, External Harddisk etc etc....

The problems also happens intermittently when i restart up the vaio.... sometimes after repeated viewing .. the jerking may stopped... sometime it may jerk again intermittenly again.

I tried almost everything but the problems still happens intermettently.

I just like to seek opinion whether anyone has the same problems as me as im feeling very frustrated as sony singapore dun do any 1 to 1 exchange... they only repair and im very reluctant to send in for repair as i worried they might scratch my new vaio!!!

What am i supposed to do !!!!????? PLease help !! Anyone has this same problem as me ????

These are hard to debug, you have my sympathies. I assume you've already tried bringing up the Performance tab in Task Manager and sit there watching for CPU spikes? The idea of course being that if the video playback is the only thing running the CPU will be mostly be around a certain level, then spike up every now and then due to an intermittant demand.

Afterward, if you can get a handle on the spike's periodicity, you can go into the Processes tab to see which app is the culprit. I've had to do this so many times over the years and I know this isn't the cure-all, but it's a start. After I got my TZ and did a semi-clean install, I picked up a very suspicious sysnav32.exe file that caused regular jerks in video playback every minute or so.

hm. you might want to check if you have any applications or processes (especially those that make extensive access to the hard disk) that runs in the background when you are playing video.

i am assuming you are playing the movie from the hard disk. i have similar symptoms when i am watching movies while my virus scanner is running.
