    I need some help from you Sony experts with something..

    First of all.. I'm on a Sony Vaio laptop. Model no. VGN-NW265F

    The graphics card is.. Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

    Okay, so here is the issue. This issue has been plaguing my computer since it came out of the box. It has always been like this, so there is no user error involved here.. The issue is that whenever I play a video.. Any format of video, including playing a DVD.. There is a screen tearing that will run across the screen in a sort of flicker. Similar to what happens in videogames, but not quite as apparent but still very distracting. This happens in every video player I have tried, which includes Windows Media Player, VLC, DivX, Winamp, probably others..

    Anyway, I've updated to the latest drivers and that didn't solve anything. I'm assuming this a driver issue, because I know it isn't a hardware issue (at least not an issue with my monitor) because the screen tearings occur even when I have my laptop hooked to an LCD TV via HDMI cable.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated, and if you need anymore information from me please let me know.

    Did you try and see if adjusting the frequency helps?

    Try play with MPC-HC. Use the EVR-Custom video renderer. If you have Aero disabled, then select View-> Renderer-> Reset-> Optimal.

    Try to foce DX9 in games, and turn on V-sync.

    It could also be that your computer is just slow. You have a Intel Pentium which is basically the lowest tier of processors + your integrated graphics. Your computer was meant for basic word processing and internet surfing.

    Even an Intel X3100 GPU can push 30fps video at 1920x1080.

    The 4 series should be decent enough for video as well.

    The CPU is more of a factor since the GPU is basically non existent.

    Mine is a 1.6Ghz Core 2 Duo(882 PassMarks). The OP's seems to be a T4300 2.1GHz(1443 PassMarks). I think we're about even.

    Also, the GPU doesn't help with decoding video at all unless DXVA is being utilized. In that case, playing video for any CPU is cake.

    @namaiki
    Aren't you the same namaiki from CCCP forums...?

    Regardless, CCCP or MPC-HC inclucded with the CCCP installer is the best option for the OP; that pretty much solves all video issues without the junkware.
