    Vista 64 bit on C2 Duo, big increase over?

    I have a VGN SZ370P/C model

    Obviously I have vista Xp Pro on this and I was debating on putting on Vista Ultimate 64bit version. Now my question is would you see a really good size increase in performance on a Core two Duo with a 64 bit OS? over XP pro?

    I know there is still a driver issue, but not to concerned about that at the moment. Thanks in advance

    You might actually see a somewhat decrease in performance by going with 64bit Vista. That's because of the lack of drivers and support. Most people seem to agree that right now XP is still the faster OS, with 32bit Vista slightly slower and the 64bit Vista even slower.

    But that's gonna change in the coming months as Vista and 64bit matures and manufacturers will start coming out with good 64bit drivers and other support.

    NO NO NO, do not put vista 64 bit. It sucks as of right now. The support is very bad, and the compatibility is horrendous. I had Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and it sucked so much, that I switched to 32 bit windows vista ultimate. Specs in sig. I can't say the speed was bad though, just the compatibility. And I would have to say that i think vista is actually FASTER than XP.
