Should I do that? Will it really run any faster? I dont give a crap about AERO or Media Center.

Does it take less space? I dont want to pay 200 bucks for XP and have to install Vista in a year.

But I dont want Vista business with all the crap I dont need.

    EDIT:

Can I install vista basic with my "anytime upgrade dvd"?

If you have or can get a Vista installation disk, you can use a program called vlite to remove all the parts of Vista that you don't want/need and then create an installation disk based on that.

I just realized I CANT see the volume or brightness indicator on screen when I use the FN+f4 or similar.

Whats up with that? It seems Ive been messing around TOO much with Vista. Thats why I just want to clean install basic and get over with it.

I just want to know if Basic is faster and takes less space than business.

Seriously, if you don't care about Aero or many of the fancy Vista things, then just install XP.

If you were already considering buying another copy of Vista, then buy yourself a copy of OEM XP from eBay.

my question is why would XP cost you $200? You can get an OEM XP for just under $100.

Its highly unlikely that Vista basic will any faster than the other variants, because its core operation will still be the same, just without some of the eye candy and functions. So I wouldn't recommend installing basic if your objective is to have it run faster.

I am only reasonably sure on this one , but intuitively I feel that the recovery discs that come from SONY come completely equipped as a new install on a TZ191 ,like the way your computer came from the Sony Style Store ,in other words, complete with all the carp they get $$ for promoting to consumers
