I have an SZ160 running Vista Business, it had 1GB of ram. It's Vista Experience Index rating was 3.3 when running in stamina mode, I don't remember what the rating was in speed mode as I usually keep it in stamina mode to save on battery life.
Yesterday I removed the original 2, 512MB dimms and upgraded it with 2, 1GB dimms of Corsair ram. After installing the new ram and making sure it showed up I ran the Vista Index score update and now it is 3.1 instead of the 3.3 rating before I added the ram. Also it shows as 1.9GB (2038mb) of ram instead of 2GB.
I switched to speed mode where the ram actually lists as 2GB (2048mb) but when I ran the Vista Index update under speed mode the rating is the same 3.1 as under stamina mode.
    So my questions are,
Why is the Vista rating lower with 2GB of ram than it was with 1GB? It's DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) so I doubt it is slower ram than the original.

Why is the ram listing as 1.9GB in stamina mode but 2GB in speed mode?

Why is the Vista rating the same in speed mode, shouldn't the Nvidia graphic card raise the rating?

I'm just curious about these inconsistencies.

I would run some real benchmarks, instead of the Vista performance index.

also remember your vista score is your LOWEST index not an average.

No doubt. This is the worst feature in Vista because people take it as gospel.

the vista index score is based on your lowest rating so if you dont upgrade what your lowest score was via it be graphics card or processor it will retain the same score even if you upgrade something else
