So i was a little anxious to get a new laptop last May and I ended up getting the SZ150p... I 've the machine and its still runnign strong, but it seems i was a few months too quick to qualify for the vista upgrade.
I'm not too keen on paying for software (or anything), so I was looking for away to do this: I may be on to something but I need your guys' opinion and expertise:
When I went to the sony parts site i saw there is a section where they have a bunch of recovery CD's for your systems.. they are pretty cheap too. My question is what if I got a recovery CD for a SZ system that ships with Vista...say one of those 4series or somethign and just used it on my laptop. I think all the hard ware is the same so it should work, but the question is, will the cd look specifically for any serial number or anything likethis on my system to authorize the install??
If any of you guys have tried a recovery cd before and are familiar w/ what it does and looks for, please let me know. I want vista, but I dont want to pay $300 for it

Couple of things, but I'll try and be helpful.
Buying a recovery disk set for Vista will do you no good as you won't have a proper Vista key to be able to set it up. "Finding" one out there is illegal and so on and so forth blah blah.
Basically, if you don't need Vista yet, don't bother. -
